Dr Lakmini Gunaratne

Dr Lakmini Gunaratne has extensive experience working in General Practice for over 15 years.

She completed her medical degree at James Cook University, North Queensland, and undertook GP training in Sydney, subsequently attaining Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. After gaining fellowship, she went on to earn a Diploma in Child Health. She continues to stay abreast of up-to-date clinical management and the newest changes in medicine.

During her years of practice, Dr Lakmini has enjoyed creating and building strong relationships with her patients and helping them through their healthcare journey.

Her interests include Women’s Health (including Menopause, Reproductive health, Implanon insertion and removal), Paediatric care, Chronic Disease Prevention and Management. Outside of medicine, she loves spending time with her family, exercising and reading a book with a good cup of coffee!

Menopause & Perimenopause Consultations

In addition to her special interest in women’s health, Dr Lakmini has a specific interest in Menopause and Perimenopause Health. She has pursued advanced studies with theAustralian Menopause Society and Jean Hailes Organisation, complementing her expertise with hands-on experience in a dedicated menopause clinic. 

Passionate about empowering women, Dr Lakmini provides personalised, evidence-based guidance to help manage symptoms and navigate the health challenges of perimenopause, menopause, and beyond. 

With a patient-centered approach, she creates a supportive and trusting environment where women can make informed decisions and feel confident in their health journey.

Please note that Dr Gunaratne bulk-bills all Pension and Health Care Card Holders, as well as all children under the age of 16. Exceptions apply for Menopause Consultations (a gap fee will apply to all patients for this Consultation type). Dr Gunaratne’s books are currently open to new patients.
